One of the Arts & Crafts shows we do in the Fall is in Simsbury. And driving back
and forth from the show to home I noticed a huge field of goldenrod at the base of
Talcott Mountain on Rt. 10 in Simsbury. I vowed to go back and take the shot.
As luck would have it, the following Monday after the two-day show, the sky was
perfectly clear, with a blue color that almost hurt your eyes to look at. I arrived
around 1pm to get a shadow on Heublein Tower. Since I wanted a high perspective, I
brought a 6-foot wood ladder and my Gitzo G410 tripod which will extend up to 10 feet.
Standing on a ladder taking a picture causes a lot of squealing of breaks as people
driving by want to see what you're doing. The ladder gave me exactly the perspective
I was looking for.
The image was shot with a Nikon D3x and 24-70/2.8 zoom lens and polarizer at ISO 100.
